It has been implied by some that there is no longer a desire among our young people to graduate. This may be a matter of debate for some but it could not be further from the truth. Since the birth of educational facilities there have always been those who committed themselves to the journey of graduation and others who have fell to the wayside. The reasons that some students choose to stay the course while others drop out; is not as simple to define as you might think. It is not because one is smart and the other not so smart. It comes down often times to support and the conditions that consume their lives. Graduation requires dedication, not just from the student, but also from everyone involved in the journey.

Dedication is the driving force that carries students to their education reward on graduation day. This journey requires support and dedication from many other participants. It begins with the availability for support and dedication from the parents. The successful road to graduation is reliant on the parents making the right choices for their children’s educational future. Parents play a huge roll in developing the proper educational study habits for their children. It is a proven fact that homes where parents openly support their children’s pursuit of education enhance the possibility that those children will graduate.

The process may begin at home but of course it is not limited there. The teachers in our educational facilities play a major role in the successful educational journey of our children. These teachers have to be dedicated to the cause of teaching as well as inspiring and motivating students to succeed. The teachers in our system have a rough road to hoe. They are underpaid and are held to high expectations. However, they have the opportunity to mold the minds of educational hopefuls. The success of the educational journey depends on good teachers having focus and dedication. Their role in the process can never be underestimated.

Of course in the end it does require immense dedication from the students to reach the goal of graduation. It is not an easy journey. It takes years of focus and determination. For this reason the accomplishment of graduation is remarkable and well earned. It deserves justifiable praise and delivers great pride in those who have shared the journey. The day of graduation drums up many emotions and feelings that seem to consume ones soul. There are many such as myself who express those emotions in the form of poetry. Poetry derives from the heart and is meant to be shared with those you love. At Poemvidz.com they work hard to offer you poetry about graduation that touches the heart and soul.

The journey to graduation is not an easy one. It takes focus and determination above and beyond the normal expectations. We live in a world today where the drop out ratio in our educational facilities is on the rise. It seems to be getting harder and harder to convince students that graduating is important to their future. There is no doubt that the children of our world are better educated today than ever before in history. Young people are intelligent and they have their own opinions on what is vital to them and what is not. Unfortunately for those young people what they do not realize is that true education also derives from experience. The gift of experience tells us that education is essential if you want to be a major part of the future innovations society will have to offer.

It is a well-known fact that our mind is a muscle that needs to be exercised. The more we exercise it the more functional it will become. Perhaps there are some things that students do not feel that it is important to learn. However, all learning is good for the brain. This is why we cannot underestimate the accomplishment of graduation. It takes a special individual in this day in age to stick with the educational journey. The process is long and quite often weary. It takes dedication to the goal of achieving educational excellence. It requires long evenings of study when you would much rather be out partying with your friends. It takes that special educational itch that is born from way down inside your soul that continuously needs to be scratched. The journey to the graduation ceremony is full of obstacles and pressure hard to endure. The rewards far out weigh the sacrifice.

Those that eventually reach that monumental moment of graduation have completed a journey inspired by purpose. The road in pursuit of their Diploma or Degree was paved by their unrelenting desire to belong, to achieve a higher calling. This is exactly why we should be so proud of our graduates. Showing your appreciation for your graduates hard work and dedication is one of the most surreal moments in a lifetime. Graduation is a day that neither you nor your graduate will ever forget and rightfully so. In many cases parents have endured a great financial burden to get their graduate to this point. In other circumstances the graduates themselves have had to work and study for years to obtain their goal. In some instances parents and grandparents are living their own educational dreams through their graduates. The act of graduation is more than just the receiving of a Diploma it is a major milestone in ones life that is enhanced with the hopes and dreams of so many.

There are many such as myself who have displayed their appreciation for graduates in the form of poetry. Our passion and heartfelt gratitude for a job well done created in the power of the written word. We write these poems with you the reader in mind to share our common emotions for a very special time in the lives of our graduates. Take the journey of graduation poetry with us and if you see something that touches you feel free to use it. If you want to customize it we can assist you with that as well. The accomplishment of graduation is priceless. Show your sincere appreciation, pride and love for your graduate with a poem written just for them.

Never Too Late To Graduate Bookmark and Share Bookmark and Share

Sometimes we get caught up in the merry-go-round of life and we fail to reach goals that were once the top priorities of our lives. We get so close and then yet it seems so far. I was a bright kid in school. I got along with everyone and I didn’t cause any major waves in the scheme of things. I did pretty well in debate class and creative writing and everything else was just learning I had to do. I did like history and I was naturally good at math. All the teachers proclaimed that there was an A student in that head of mine. All we had to do was find a way to bring it out for the whole world to see. It was not to be.

The subjects I liked I did pretty well in. If I didn’t like them I did what I had to and got by. Never the less graduation seemed like a sure thing. That was until December of my senior year when I dropped out. I decided to join the Army instead of finishing school. Once in the Army I took night classes and received my High School Diploma. It was good to have the Diploma, but I gave up something that I now reflect back upon with great misgiving. I did not graduate with my class. I did not get the Cap and Gown ceremony. Perhaps more important, I took that ceremony away from my parents. A priceless life event had slipped through my fingers never to be the same.

After the Army I joined the work force. I grew restless quite quickly and soon decided to pursue post high school education. I chose to study for an Associate in Electrical Technology Degree. It took 1500 hours for me to realize that what I really wanted to do was be a writer. I finished the school though and when it came to receive my Degree, I skipped it and moved out of state to find work in the electrical field. I received my Degree in the mail a few weeks later. Once again I had missed my graduation ceremony. These moments only come around once in a blue moon for most people. But I did graduate.

There is a moral to this story. The most important thing is to graduate. Complete what you have set out to do. I am sure there is a sub conscience reason for me to avoid graduation ceremonies; I’m just not sure what it is yet. All of us in this world are different. We tend to feed on different desires and pursue our decisions with certainty no matter how clouded our judgment appears to be. We are to busy chasing the years like dogs chase their tails until those years leave us with what seems like only moments. We all have regrets. I regret that I missed my graduation ceremonies. Fortunately we can find solace in the error of our ways.

Graduation And The Dynamic Duo Bookmark and Share Bookmark and Share

The feat of graduating High School in today’s society is quite an accomplishment. It has always been a difficult task. You have to be dedicated and willing to stay the course. The drop out rate continues to rise in educational facilities across the land. The truth is though that many more graduate than actually drop out. The fact that the drop out rate continues to rise is still alarming. If you need an indicator to show you how serious the problem has become just take a gander around your own family and friends. How many students in that circle graduated and how many dropped out? You may be surprised at what you see.

There is plenty of blame to go around. The parents point fingers at the schools and the schools point fingers at the parents. Perhaps there is evidence that supports both theories. To me the real truth rests with the students themselves. It is my opinion that neither teachers nor parents can truly force the students to learn. They have to have that hidden desire to want to be successful. They have to have the right frame of mind. Students have to take responsibility for their own future. In this case the buck cannot be passed. I know many students who have risen above the circumstances that surround them and worked their way to graduation. The effective range of an excuse is zero meters.

I have a large family. Many of the students in my circle dropped out of High School. Many of them ended up getting their G.E.D. or a High School Diploma through night school. Some have not. There are two family members that stand out in my mind. This dynamic duo kept their noses to the grindstone. They refused to allow peer pressure to prevent them from reaching their goal to graduate. They chose to succeed. They brought honor to their Mother and Father and to themselves. I am proud of all that find a way to get their Diploma. But for those who stay the course and dedicate themselves to completing the educational process, I salute you.

The dynamic duo that I mention above is my Niece and Nephew, Misty and Glen. I don’t know if their grades were excellent but what I know is they never gave up. In today’s society there are those who no longer see the value of a High School Diploma. The graduation process is very important. There is honor in completing what you have begun. It is essential that you get the right start in today’s world. You do not want to be branded a quitter. I am proud of Misty and Glen. Regardless of where they go or what they do in life, they pursued and completed their first major life event. They are High School Graduates.

My Army Experience: Basic Training Graduation Bookmark and Share Bookmark and Share

The decades of my life have seemed to pass by without any hesitation or regard to my own personal feelings. I find solace only in the memories that I have assembled in the storage of my mind. They bring me warmth as the autumn nights chill the air around me. They provide me with comfort at a time when I often question my accomplishments in life. I am reminded that forces unknown complicate the journey of life and it is how we react to the conditions of life that define who we really are. Our lives are mirrored in our souls. The journey is comprised of many instant decisions that carry an eternity of repercussions.

As a high school student I had educational opportunities available to me. I was a gifted speaker and was very successful in the debate process. I could have applied quite easily for a debate scholarship. I may have had a promising career as a politician. I chose however to withdraw from high school and enter the Army. This would begin a very turbulent time in my young life. I entered the Army at the age of 18. My older brother was in the Army and I was proud of him. I wanted to feel that pride as well. It was a decision that would confront every emotion that I could bring to bare. The Army tested my will to overcome that which would hold a normal man down. Basic Training in the Army was no joke. Your life and the life of those around you were directly related to what you would learn.

The induction into Army life found me lonesome in ways I had never experienced. I missed my family and friends and yearned for life as it once was. We were tested mentally and physically with each passing day. I had not finished high school. I did not graduate. As my basic training progressed I watched many soldiers fall to the wayside. They left the Army as unfit to continue. As much as I suffered in this training at the same time I felt great pride in my development as a soldier. I was proud to wear the uniform of my country. The bond formed between soldiers cannot be underestimated. We came together as a unit. We struggled together side by side in pursuit of success.

After weeks of training we were as one. We were prepared for our graduation. When the day finally came to cross that stage and complete the basic training process I was full of joy and satisfaction. I had finally accomplished something. I felt part of something that was much larger than myself. I knew I could depend on my fellow soldiers and they on I. I went on to serve 5 years in the Army. In reflection those moments are frozen in time in my memory. The Army brought out the best in me. I miss those days so long ago. I miss those men that I graduated with. A time when we confronted resistance from within ourselves and over came it by the unrelenting power of the human spirit.
